Rebecca & Tyler’s Wedding at York Harbor Inn | York, Maine
After the reception, we drove to Wiggly Bridge.
With lightsabers.
Rebecca and Tyler are massive Star Wars and Marvel people, so we stood under this dramatic, stormy Maine sky and they just absolutely went for it. Full lightsaber battle on the bridge, neon glow cutting through the clouds, the York River stretching out in the background. I was losing my mind behind the camera. Those photos are some of my favorites I’ve ever taken and I will not be taking questions.
York Harbor Inn, York, Maine
York Harbor Inn sits right on the Atlantic coast and it commits to that fully. You can hear the waves during the ceremony, the sea breeze is doing something to everyone’s hair at all times, and the historic New England inn energy wraps around the whole day like a blanket. It’s cozy and dramatic at the same time, which is a hard thing to pull off but this place does it effortlessly.
Rebecca and Tyler got married on a June day with the kind of moody coastal sky that looks like it was art directed. Which it wasn’t. Maine just does that.
The ceremony
Ocean behind them, their people gathered close, vows that were genuinely emotional in the way that sneaks up on you. Rebecca and Tyler are warm and funny and clearly deeply in love, and it came through in every single moment of the ceremony.. including, I’m pretty sure, the part where one of them was visibly trying not to cry and failing (scroll through to see who exactly it was).
The reception
The Inn has this quality where it feels like someone’s really well-loved home, just significantly larger. Guests toasted and laughed and hugged and the whole thing had this relaxed, warm energy that never tipped into chaotic. Just really good people celebrating two people they love.
And then we went to Wiggly Bridge. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Rewiiiiiind.
Actually no, I already told you about the lightsabers. You know what happened. Go look at the photos.
What made this day actually special
Here’s the thing about Rebecca and Tyler… the lightsaber battle is the detail everyone’s going to remember, and it’s a great detail, but it wasn’t a gimmick. It was just THEM. Two people who geek out over Star Wars and wanted that in their wedding day, so they put it in their wedding day. Simple as that. The vows were real and emotional and the lightsaber battle was real and joyful and neither thing cancelled the other out. The whole day just felt like them, start to finish.
That’s the goal, right? That’s always the goal.
Getting married at York Harbor Inn?
