Some couples are romantic in that slow, cinematic, tearful way. Julie and Connor are romantic in the way that best friends are: loud, goofy, completely obsessed with each other, and having the absolute best time no matter what’s happening around them. Their June wedding at Chippanee Country Club in Bristol, Connecticut felt exactly like them: warm, bright, and genuinely fun.
Chippanee is one of those venues that works so well. The gardens are lush, the fields sprawl out in every direction, and the sky feels enormous, which, on a sunny June day, means you’re basically shooting in a giant golden box of beautiful light all afternoon. The covered porch where cocktail hour happened was such a great touch: speeches delivered right into the crowd, everyone spilling out with drinks in hand, relaxed and happy. It set the tone for the whole night.
The reception inside is clean and bright, the kind of space that photographs beautifully without needing a ton of extra atmosphere, because the people in it bring all the atmosphere you need. And Julie and Connor’s people were clearly cut from the same cloth.
By the time the sun started to dip and we got that June Connecticut sunset, the whole day had this easy, joyful energy that just carried through every frame. That’s what happens when two people get married who are genuinely, deeply, embarrassingly in love with each other.
Julie and Connor, I’m so glad I got to be there for it.
