You never plan for a windy day engagement in Ruidoso, New Mexico but when it happens, you gotta embrace it. “It gives so much amazing drama!” is what I always tell my clients on days like these. And that’s exactly what happened for Brittany and James’ session!
Our session together started off with the most amazing amount of motion; singing, dancing, heart-felt laughs. I couldn’t have asked for a better start! As we walked along the Cedar Creek Trail, I got to know more about my clients. Brittany and James have been together for 5 years, love golfing, and hanging out with their 2 dogs. The thing we bonded most about? Settlers of Catan!!
I felt so understood when I mentioned that even though I haven’t won a game in ages, the need to play is still constant haha.
After having a blast on the trails, we headed to the Alto Lake Reservoir, my favorite spot in Ruidoso to bring clients! The wind was relentless but the sunset made up for it. Just check out those colors!
This is why I have a “I’m down if you’re down” approach to weather. In New Mexico, weather can change out of nowhere and you never know what beauty that’ll bring to photos. It may get uncomfortable, it may mess up your hair, but going along with the elements yields unique photos every time.
